Trump Times Entry 206 – Trump the Same on Climate Change

Trump the Same on Climate Change

June 2, 2017

The Donald, of course, pulled us out of the Paris Climate Accord yesterday. The lead-up drama: “Will he keep his campaign promise and pull out or will he listen to corporate advisors and his daughter?” was manufactured news. There was never any question as to what Trump would do. While his actions appear random, the Donald’s decisions consistently tack hard-right, frequently crossing over into the lunatic fringe and quitting any attempt to mitigate climate damage is his kind of lunacy.

The Donald’s first question, when considering policy, is always: where’s the money? And, since he’s in the energy business now (indirectly, through his partner Putin), carbon limits and other silly regulations would cost him cash. Hence, it’s a no-brainer, dump the Paris Accord and make money. The question as to whether he believes in climate change or not is irrelevant; the analysis never gets that deep. “America First” is code for money first – Trump money.

While we can rest assured Trump made his decision based upon that simple “My Money First” principle, it is interesting that he went to FOX News staff for advice and reassurance just hours before his anti-climactic, anti-climate, announcement. He gave FOX co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle a call that morning and they talked about how courageous he was. No need to discuss boring technical details with boring scientists and engineers when can you can find some attractive woman who will tell you what you want to hear. The Trump doctrine continues to emerge.

So, on the two-hundred-sixth day since Trump won the election with some very ugly ideas we find our energy policy influenced by a FOX News host, because the Donald finds her attractive. And he likes the way she thinks.

The republic is hoping the Donald heats up and self-destroys before our planet does. If, in some small way, Kimberly Guilfoyle or any other FOX personality could help with that, we would be most grateful. But, publicly embarrassing him, by inappropriately sharing early morning phone call details may not be enough. Kimberly needs to fall on her sword for the country and take Sean Spicer’s spot – get to a place where she can do some real damage.

(Yeah, rumor has it Kimberly has already auditioned for Sean’s spot. Next!)

Trump Times Entry 78 – Climate Change Control

Climate Change Control

On this seventy-eighth day since America elected anger over reason, the national debate has gotten a little quieter. With fewer voices, now that the Donald has ordered environmental related agencies to shut up, the environmental discussion is also way more civilized. We all know how rude and negative those scientific elites can be, so the Donald thinks it best to move on without them.

Now that we have intellectual silence, Trump can do what he does best – make a great deal. It will be epic when, unencumbered by science, he negotiates the shit out of planet Earth. His realistic objectives include, but are not limited to, all exploitable resources the planet has to offer. And true to his renown haggling style, the Donald remains unspecific regarding the price he’s willing to pay.

The Earth, currently busy with subsystem breakdown, was unavailable for comment. But, those close to the planet report the Earth does not negotiate with terrorists. They also claim to have proof that if a species becomes too problematic, the planet, a pragmatist, will simply eliminate the problem. (Then again, saying negative stuff like that is why Trump ordered them to shut up.)

Earth does not give a damn about the republic, the Donald or the middle-class jobs. Like all living things, it cares about survival – and survive it will. Whether we will be included on Earth’s surviving species list remains in question.

But, It’s not looking good.

Ode to Spring – Angry Little Poem and Video

Ode to Spring

Seemingly forever
This winter lingers still

The climate keeps on changing
While denier’s cry out, drill!

Yet hope springs eternal
And spring, well, springs forth hope

Try not to take things too personal
It’s just the planet trying to cope
