Trump Times Entry 32 – Bully Them into Submission

Bully Them into Submission

December 10, 2016trump-putin-1

So far, we’ve suffered thirty-two days of the Trump pre-show show, yet the it continues to delight. In what can fairly be termed the crescendo of Reality Performance Art, team Donald once again gives us something to look at.

Yup, we have a Game of Thrones like inner circle filled with religious zealots, military fanatics and conspiracy theorists.  Peppered liberally with wife beaters, this bunch promises to stay interesting all the way to the apocalypse.

If intrigue is not your thing, there’s always the live tour. Hooray, the Trump band is back together and doing a national gig. And the set list is, well, amazing! Along with new, even more confusing, material, the tour features a full set of the golden oldies. “Lock her Up!” and “Build the wall – kill then all!” have been crowd favorites.

And of course, for those of us too challenged for intrigue, but unwilling to adventure outdoors there’s Twitter. To keep it sweet, the Trump tweet show has been featuring the ever-popular Attack theme. Totally equal opportunity, they’ve attacked television shows, China, union bosses and even teen-age girls. But the Donald really took it to the next level this week when he stated attacking the CIA.

The republic looks to stand awhile longer – not so sure about the Donald.

For once I agree with and feel encouraged by the Donald. His cyber-bully tweets aimed at the CIA are just what we need. Go for it Donald, we all know the agency is just a bunch of new-age sensitive guys – eager to hear public critique. So, keep tweeting; they’re listening. I’m sure in due time they will structure a reasonable civilized response.

That’s all I got today. Take care of yourselves and each other,

Trump Times Entry 11 – Back to How It Feels

Back to How It Feels

November 19, 2016

Day eleven and the republic still stands.inthought2

Woke up, rolled over, focused on the bedside clock – 4:19 am.  Fucking wonderful!  Gonna be another early start; never getting back to sleep.  Because… Because…. Because, the Donald is really a thing.

I still get blindsided by that realization all the time.  Upon waking up, when returning from some fleeting thought, while puzzling through a broken poem, even as I brush my dog – boom, it hits me.  Donald Trump will be a part of my life and I don’t get to change the station this time.

When experiencing despair sometimes it helps to turn to our most profound thinkers.

“The only real laughter comes from despair.”
― Groucho Marx, The Groucho Letters

Well Groucho, I eagerly await the punchline to this joke.  It should be great, huge, the greatest punchline ever.

Since I’m going with feelings today, let’s close with an angry little poem:

healthy attitude

they eagerly embrace
the risk of hating
so completely
Fuck ‘em

That’s all I got today.  Take care of yourselves and each other,

Trump Times Entry 2 – Feelings Shared with Media Polls

inthought2Feelings Shared with Media Polls

November 10, 2016

“Polls?  Nah…  they’re for strippers and cross country skiers.” – Sarah Palin 2016

In the wake of this current crisis, I harbor some unexpected feelings.

Sure, I got the usual anger, denial, dazed thing going.  But beyond the anger, beneath the denial, glowing in the haze is something else.  Something less comfortable.

Ever get that “something’s wrong” feeling?

Like when you head out for a walk and call your dog – that feeling just before you realize she passed away last month.  Or when it’s 25th of the month and in the back of your mind it’s unclear how to get next month’s rent.  Or when you reach for the phone, then remember the call you’ve been making every day, for the last six years, won’t be needed any more.  That feeling…

When my memory drifts back to election night, whenever I hear the phrase “Trump Cabinet” or “Trump’s first hundred days” that’s what I feel.  Loss with some alienation on the side.

(beginning of rant)

On the other hand, my feelings regarding our mainstream polls and media are simple.  To suggest that they made mistakes, but who could see it coming?  To assert that they have learned and are ready to move on, is frankly insulting.

The polls and media weren’t just wrong; they were spectacularly wrong.

The polls predicted a greater than ninety percent likelihood of exactly what did NOT happen.  The media, apparently, never detected, so never reported the actual election winning narrative.  They didn’t see the story, even when characters in the story were screaming at them.

Plainly, the current crop of mainstream media and polling staff are not competent enough to do the work required in our democracy.  All the polls: 538, Huffington Poll, Gallup, Rasmussen… lack credibility.  All the mainstream media: ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, MSNBC … lack the imagination, curiosity and courage to act as our eyes and hears.

Our mainstream media and polls were gamed and easily manipulated by Donald Trump.  They were outsmarted by team Breitbart.  They should all step aside and let someone else give it a try.  Clearly, they’re not good enough to play in the big leagues.

(end of rant)

That’s all I got today.  Take care of yourselves and each other.

From the state that gave us Joe McCarthy: Scott Hubris Walker

bilde

In a courageous act of self-involved hubris, Scott Walker recently provided us with a glimpse into the mind of the “real conservative” who would be king. Addressing the international terrorist issue, Walker declared, “If I can take on 100,000 protesters, I can do the same across the world.”

Sounds like the Governor is suggesting that his union busting tactics qualify him to lead the fight against an army?

Outstanding! So, the key to defeating International Terror Organizations is to decertify them and cut their funding? Maybe, not allow them to collect dues and make them pay for extra police when they peacefully protest!

Yeah, that’ll work.

The oddest aspect of this notion is that this anti-government lifetime government employee actually believes his own BS. Kind of scary, hey?

Fellow Americans, we in Wisconsin humbly apologize for unleashing another right wing whack-a-doodle upon an unsuspecting nation. Sorry, sometimes we get a little crazy up here. Here’s hoping he does little national damage while providing some quality entertainment.

Sorry…
