Trump Times Entry 261 – Where Have We Seen This Before?

Where Have We Seen This Before?

July 28, 2017

Our emotion for today: disgusted.

Well, Trump’s new communication director, Anthony Scaramucci, certainly brings his own unique style to the job. This week, while speaking with a New Yorker reporter, he offered his own thoughtful critique of fellow White House staff members Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon. And during that interview, we were treated to both sensitive metaphor and an inside glimpse into what Trump looks for in senior staff.

Anthony started right out on Trump’s Chief of Staff Reince Priebus by saying, “Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac.”

He then went on to build his case by accusing Priebus of leaking details of a private diner Scaramucci attended with Trump and two Fox News sycophants. Anthony even offered his studied opinion of what Priebus must have been thinking, “’Let me leak the fucking thing and see if I can cock-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months.'”

(Apparently, for the last six months, Priebus tried to prevent Trump from hiring Scaramucci. I can’t imagine why.)

Anthony then offered a ironclad reason why his opinion was, indeed, objective by declaring, “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock.”

(Watching Rachel Maddow try to paraphrase that quote for FCC approved consumption may have been the most awkward thing I’ve seen, so far, this year.)

Let’s remember, Mr. Scaramucci said this stuff publicly to a reporter, not privately in a locker room.

Anthony later tried to recover by tweeting, “I sometimes use colorful language. I will refrain in this arena but not give up the passionate fight for @realDonaldTrump’s agenda.”

When that non-apology didn’t work he, like all trump staff, blamed the reporter by tweeting, “I made a mistake in trusting in a reporter. It won’t happen again.” I guess he expected the New Yorker reporter to only print positive quotes – you know like fake news should.

For two-hundred-sixty-two days we’ve witnessed a parade of sleaze-balls, scumbags, conmen and psychos try to pass as government staff. While Anthony Scaramucci is more out-front than most he’s simply representative of what we get with Trump pulling the strings.

The republic may have come to accept Sopranos-like characters in the White House, but we have a reasonable expectation that the Donald be at least a bright as Tony, and not hire inarticulate assholes like Scaramucci for public relations.

Bada Bing,
osv
